reports by the French Academy of Science
Now available : a new series of publications edited by
the Academy of Sciences of France
The Academy of Sciences of France has edited a
new series of publications on Science and Technology in response to a
request lodged by the French Minister in charge of Research : the series
now available comprises 12 reports that address major current and
emerging scientific and technological themes that will be of interest to
academic staff, research scientists, lecturers and students alike. Each
overview report represents a synthesis in a given field and is framed in
didactic style.
The Academy of Sciences presents two volumes in the series that
specifically address the area of ionising radiation :
Radiochemistry: radioactive matter and ionising radiation
(Académie des sciences - RST Report #4 - Éditions Tec&Doc )
This report presents the state of knowledge today in radiochemistry
and highlights the main areas of research that should, in the authors'
views, be pursued in the domains of energy, environmental protection and
health.
Authors : Academy of Sciences, Abbé, Adloff, Blanzat (rapporteur), Genet,
Gras, Guillaumont (co-ordinator), Leroy, Madic, Masson, Métivier,
Olivier, Quéré, Rigny, Tarnero.
Nuclear Materials (Académie des sciences - RST Report #5 -
Éditions Tec&Doc )
This report recalls and analyses radiation phenomena and the status of
our current knowledge (action, influence on the properties of the
materials used), materials used in today's nuclear reactor vessels and
ancillary equipment and also materials envisaged for future power
stations (notably addressing the question of material aging) and also
materials used in the downstream segments of nuclear industries. The
authors chose to throw light specifically on emerging scientific themes
and novel methodologies.
Authors: Academy of Sciences, Beaumard, Blanzat (rapporteur), Boch,
Bréchet, Iracane, Lemaignain, Lemaire, Lesueur, Martin, Niepce, Pecker,
Pineau, Poirier, Quéré, Vacher, Van Damme, Zacharie, Zaoui
(co-ordinator).
Without forgetting :
Problems associated with the effects of low doses of ionising
radiations (Académie des sciences - Report #38 - 1998 - Éditions
Tec&Doc)
