Watch it, Ruth, the ice is getting thin!! Take a hormetic (U- or
J-type) response function and it is: how much of what sign for what dose
group?! Let us be clear here:
The simplest J- or U-type functions go to negative excess risks at very
low doses. Consequently, an increase in dose is good for you! And that
is an absolute statement! Pretty soon Joe Alvarez and I will submit a
paper on nonlinear dose-effects functions, and will discuss this in
general terms.
