Cell Phone Battery Drain

Folks,



This situation was recently reported to Radiation Safety.    

Hopefully, some of you can shed some light on some 

possible causes:



1)  A worker uses a cell phone frequently on the job.  A 

certain battery life is noted.



2)  The building/office area where the phone is used is 

an open-bay, steel skinned industrial fabrication plant 

(similar to a Butler building).



3)  The worker is then transferred to another location.  

This location is inside a 1960's era, concrete and steel 

building.



4)  The worker notices that the cell phone battery life 

is now significantly lower than at the other location.



We theorize that there could be some power drainage from 

the phone amping up it's power level to penetrate the 

steel and concrete building walls, but I don't know of 

any cell phone technology that does this.



It could be a battery going bad, but the worker doesn't 

feel this is the case as there was no problem at the 

other facility just several days before.



If any of you can shed some light on this, it would be 

appreciated.
