Re: Cell Phone Battery Drain
Not only is there a difference in power consumption between the analog and
digital mode, the phones adjust their transmitter output power "on the fly"
depending on how strong a signal is being received at the cell base site.
When the phone is transmitting to a close base it uses .6 watts RF output,
when it transmits to a more distant base it uses 3.0 watts or 5 times the
power.
>This could happen if the phone operated in digital mode in the old location
and in analog mode in the new.
>Operation in analog mode requires greater power drain. Note published
battery talk and standby times; >they are much greater in digital mode.
