Eberline ASP-1 Neutron Detector
Radsafers
I am in search of any data or operational experience regarding the affects of excessive heat or vibration on the Eberline ASP-1 Neutron Detector. We use the instrument to verify Neutron Dose Rates at the perimeter of an ISFSI storage cask area. Observed dose rates have increased by nearly 500 percent of that which was anticipated. The instrument spent upwards of 3 hours in 90 degree heat, and 1 hour on the transport. Could the excessive heat have affected the response? Could the external heat not be an accurate representation of the temperature within the rem ball? Should one anticipate affects on operability as a result of the excessive vibrations experienced while being transported? I have attempted to recreate each scenario with little success. The vendor has not supported any such possibilities. Thank you.
