Hormesis, LNT and genetic changes

This is not my area of expertise, but I would like to throw a thought out

for consideration:

Statement: Radiation causes genetic changes.

Who says that change has to be a bad one?

At low doses: good and bad changes occur. Those changes that improve bodily

functions, are not attacked by the defense mechanisms, and infact are

supported to grow and develop, since they help the body. At the same time,

there are bad genetic changes occurring, but because they are detrimental to

the body, they are attacked and destroyed.

At higher doses:good and bad changes occur. However, due to damaging of the

bodies immune system, these bad changes are allowed to grow unhindered. The

detrimental effects seen overshadow any good genetic changes that may have

occurred in that same individual. After all, weren't the exposures in the

range of 100-900 RAD for the population studied?

To coin a 500 year old phrase, "it is the dose that determines if it is a

poison or a remedy."

Just food for thought. Have a nice day all
