Can you provide your references on the cancer rates?

Subject: Co-60 contamination incident in Taiwan

Dear radsafe friends:

>From my friends I learned there were disputes on the heath effects of

radiation observed in the incident of Co-60 contaminated houses in Taiwan. I

would like to say a few words about this matter..

The epidemic study of RERF in more than 50 years of about 6300 atomic bomb

survivors who received the acute doses > 0.5 Sv indicating that leukemia

mortality rate of the survivors was much higher definitely than the general

public (1996 RERF) This is basically the originate of LNT of ICRP and the

radiation-phobia of public. There were about 10,000 residents who living in

about 1580 apartments with reinforced bars contaminated by Co-60 and

received an average dose about 0.34 Sv in 9-19 years; But the health effects

observed were completely different, the leukemia mortality did increase any

bit but decreased to about 40% (two young boys died in leukemia, but AEC did

believe they were related to radiation as they studied only a short period

the light contaminated classroom ) and their spontaneous cancers reduced

sharply to about 3.4% of the general public (the spontaneous cancer deaths

would be about 205 and leukemia deaths would be about 5 ) therefore the

chronic radiation has no harm, on the contrary only hormesis, and the

hormesis was so strong that could immune cancers as vaccine.(1999, 2000

Luan) So

that the chronic radiation should always be welcomed by public, and by

peaceful use of nuclear and radiation.

I don¡¦t try to convince any one, I want all the radiation protection

friends would have different idea about radiation and all the radiation

protection organizations would face the new fact honestly.
