Re: Dateline NBC TMI story - A different evaluation

before we go into mea culpa mode:

When TMI happened I was very active as an enviro, and probably the leading
anti-nuke spokesperson in Washington State.  The enviro attitude at the time
(which was when the facade started to crack for me) was: GOTCHA!  I was in
fact besieged by press, etc, to say awful things about the nuclear industry,
etc.  (They savaged me later when I "turned" but that's another story.)

Sure there was confusion, but the enviro groups and the anti-nukes did their
best to enhance it.  No one even wanted to do what I did, which was to find
out what the monitoring data showed.  This is from the horse's mouth,
friends!  Some enviro friends of mine opined that the best people to have on
any advisory or oversight committee for TMI were "ordinary housewives."
(their term not mine).

Moreover, what disaster that has occurred has not been immediately followed
by confusion and confusion of responsibility, to be followed right away by
finger-pointing and blame?
