The original chart was published by Paul Slovic, with several co-authors, and 

the journal (I think but am not sure) was RISK ANALYSIS.  I believe Slovic's 

paper was published in th early 1980s (1983? 1984?).   Dr. Slovic is on the 

faculty of the University of Oregon.  His email is slovic@oregon.uoregon.edu 

(I got this by searching for "Paul Slovic" on the web.  I'm sure he would 

send you a reprint.
