RE: Irradiation of mail

Jim,
And people complained when postage went up once cent last year.

I hope the get the equipment in place before they catch the person sending these letters.  Otherwise, it will be a waste of money.

Subject: Irradiation of mail

Colleagues —

I heard a blurb about "sanitizing" the mail on the radio this morning, and there's an interesting press release at http://www.usps.com/news/2001/press/pr01_1022pmg.htm

Buried in the press release is the following:

"The PMG (PostMaster General) said USPS (United States Postal Service) will be investing heavily in technology to sanitize the mail. He cited equipment already available that uses irradiation to kill bacteria. "We're looking to buy our first piece of equipment today."
