There seem to be a number of qualifiers here, .

. . 

"The overall response to IR depends on the cell's inherent genetic

background, as well as its ability to biochemically and genetically respond

to IR-induced damage"



I will get and study the article later this week.  After all, it does at

least end with my favorite phrase used by all researchers, ". . . our

knowledge of these pleiotropic responses must improve. ..."
