Book choices for laypersons?

Many thanks to everyone who replied privately and on the list, this is a

very helpful group!

I'm downloading "Operational Health Physics Training" from

http://www.osti.gov/bridge/product.biblio.jsp?osti_id=145829 because it

came highly reccomended, and the price is right. 8*)

I also found three different textbooks that were reccomended on Amazon:

Gollnick - Basic Radiation Protection Technology 4th Edition $95 4-6wks

Knoll - Radiation Detection and Measurement $171 2-3 days

Cember - Introduction to Health Physics $50 24 hours

While my first inclination was to get all three, that's a bit pricey. The

Knoll seems to come highly reccomended and the Cember has a "new edition

marred by typos and awkward editing" review. Any other thoughts or book

reccomendations?

Thanks again!
