Re: I-131 misadministration

Mr. Tallon,

Your question was interesting. My answer for you was going to be yes,

use the ICRP, until I read your final paragraph. Did you receive help?

If so, could you forward some of the better replies to me. I am

interested to hear what others say.

Dear colleagues,

I must perform a dosimetric estimation on a misadministration of I-131

(NaI). I've experience on dose estimations from CT and general

radiodiagnostic procedures, but I can't say the same on Nuclear Medicine

procedures. The data I have is the administered dose (5 mCi) and the

thyroid estimated activity at 50 hours post-administration. Basically I

need estimate the EDE.

Do you think that it's sufficient to estimate the uptake of the patient

and use the ICRP publications to estimate the EDE? Does anyone have a

estimation procedure for dose estimations on I-131 misadministrations or

literature references?

I have and additional problem because after misadministration, about 4

hours later, the doctor began a treatment with a iodide solution to

block the thyroid.

Please, respond direct to me because I'm not sure if I'm subscribed to

dose-net

Thank you for your help.
