Mining by in-situ leaching
Injecting the leaching solution into the seam one wishes to mine could potentially impact an aquifer or local wells. Before it is done, it is necessary to have a really good understanding of the hydrology of the area to make sure there is no contamination of water sources. In-situ leaching certainly is a life-saver in the sense of preventing mining deaths. However, like every other industrial process, it has potentially adverse environmental impacts (that is "potentially adverse environmental impacts," not "potential environmental impacts" or "adverse environmental impacts" ).
