RE: Stop the madness

You're correct. About 1977 one of the leading proponents of global warming was saying that increased warming could bring on a new Ice Age ( check the National Geographic article about weather from about the 1976-1979 timeframe). However, science marches on as does our understanding of how all of the mechanisms involving ocean currents, cloud cover, and suspended atmospheric particles interact to affect the weather patterns. Hence the current predictions of an average temperature rise of 1-3 degrees Centigrade. We probably will be seeing more changes to the predictions being made by the UN's IPCC. Given that one of the world's leading oceanographers has evidence that climate changes can occur abruptly ( in 100 years or so) in a geological time frame, I'll put my money on the warmer predictions. Of course, we can always come to our senses and conserve more energy, go nuclear, and have greater fossil fuel efficiency. That would be cheaper than launching a lot of mirrors int!

o orbit around the earth to decrease the amount of incoming solar energy

As always, my own ideas and not necessarily those of my employer.
