For one, they would not have been continually exposed to the released 

effluents, if they were able to evacuate. They would have been 

exposed to some during the evacuation. They could have been given KI 

to reduce intake radioiodine. If they had, there would be less talk 

regarding the number of thyroid cancers (real and assumed). 



There were deaths due to the accident .. mostly the emergency 

responders, who also weren't provided adequate information or proper 

equipment. There were also some deaths in the public. The only real 

issue is how many. Real or perceived.
