Safety and Ecology Corporation (SEC) is now hiring an IH Specialist for
Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant.

MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED:
Thorough knowledge of IH instrumentation use and interpretation of results.
Understanding of IH and Safety issues as defined by the scope of work and
associated Occupational Safety and Health performance requirements. Must be
able to determine appropriate controls based on analysis of chemical and
toxicological hazards and must be able to determine appropriate analytical
techniques. Must be able to determine appropriate analytical techniques
based on review of chemical and toxicological hazards. Demonstrated ability
to develop and follow procedures and task requirements. Demonstrated
ability to appropriately document survey and data collection results.
Demonstrated ability to use different levels of PPE (including respiratory
protection). Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (written and
verbal) with field, project management, and client representatives is
essential. Demonstrated ability to review IH data and to interpret and
explain results. Technical knowledge of industrial hygiene systems,
principles, and calculations. Ability to identify deficiencies and to
determine and facilitate corrective action and to monitor work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science in Industrial Hygiene or science field (engineering,
Occupational Safety and Health, or related) preferred. At least five years
of substantially related experience and background and course work relating
to Industrial Hygiene may be substituted for having a Bachelor of Science
Degree. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) regulations, occupational safety and health policies,
and procedures. Strong preference on three years experience in IH/safety
field activities including experience in determining hazard controls based
on review of chemical and toxicological hazards and concerns. Ability to
participate in physically demanding work while wearing personal protective
equipment including respiratory protection. Medically qualified to wear a
respirator, able to lift 30 pounds, and able to climb ladders. Skills in
verbal and written communication. Ability to obtain DOE "L" or "Q" security
clearance, if such clearance becomes necessary.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) preferred but not required,
but must be working towards OHST or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
designation.
