Questions about decontamination

At the Austrian Standardisation Institute there is a group working on a

standard for comparing surfaces for the ease of decontamination. These

surfaces may be floors, at furniture or walls, which might occur in a

nuclear medicine lab. Also only radionuclides and compounds used in nuclear

medicine are of interest.

One of my collegues wants to carry out tests. He would like to know the

following:

Is the product "Count-off" of DuPont still available? He did not receive an

answer to his request to DuPont. If yes, can you give information where

small quantities could be purchased?

Second: Another brand name is "Rad-Wash", but he was informed that the

company which sold it (Atomic Products) went bankrupt recently. Is this

product still available from some other company?

Third: In the advertising of a company there is a "guideline 8.23 of the US

Regulatory Commission" mentioned. Does something like this exist? Is it

available on the net?

Fourth: Are there in the USA or elsewhere standards on the topic of

decontamination of surfaces which may occur in nuclear medical laboratories?

He told us, that he tried the internet on these topics, but was not

successful.

Thanks for any answers!

Franz
