Re: perception and reality regarding tool boxes on trucks

It is neither elitist nor condescending to issue

counterpoints to propaganda-type messages [as were

included in the article].

George Orwell was not being elitist or condescending

when he wrote '1984' and 'Animal Farm.' [I know the

topics were very different from the toolbox accident

discussed here]. Rather, he was trying to inform and

to impart an attitude of educated skepticism among his

readers.

The poster who wrote about the three-strike theory of

advertising is correct. If a message is repeated

enough, it becomes reality in a lot of minds.

Unfortunately, it is only a small step away from this

to the full-blown Big Lie technique.

Condescending or 'elitist' or not, this is why

countering false arguments is necessary for those who

have the experience or training or educating or

"horse-roping" to 'know better.'

Such explaining should be done in a friendly and

understanding manner. I never said it shouldn't....
