RE: Half-face Respirator Use

Title: RE: Half-face Respirator Use

Greetings:

Harris Nuclear Plant allows the use of half-face respirators. Half-face respirators can not be used for protection against  airborne radioactive material and Health Physics must approve their use in Radiologically Controlled Areas.

A few questions/poll for NRC and DOE facilities

1)  Do you permit the use of half-face respirators?

2)  Rad;  Non-Rad; Both?

3)  Any restrictions on their use for rad, such as: used only for very low
risk jobs; used only if other issues (for example - visibility) are a
concern?

Thank you,
