Job # 1)

   Type: Health Physics Technician, HPT

   Duties:  To assist the RSO or the designee with the implementation of

the radoactive waste

                management program.Other duties include but not limited to:

identifies radioactivity in waste, labels

                container appropriately,estimates activity in waste and

stores, monitors brachytherapy procedures and

                advises the RSO or designee of any deviation from policies

and procedures. Prepares and monitors

                rooms where radiation treatments are performed, perform

routine radiaton room surveys and wipe tests

                and assist with collection and disribution of film badges.

                Job requirements: the candidate should have a knowledge of

procedures and hospital health physics

                practices and of radioactive waste management as would

normally be acquired through completion of an

                Associate's degree in radiological science,environmental

safety or one to three years of formal training.

                The candidate should have a minimum of one year experience,

with skills of problem solving, computer,

                and exerience with patient care.

    Type: Radiation Safety Assistant- HP

   Duties: To assist in everyday health physics duties in the hospital

center where byproduct

                materials and radiation producing equipment are used. This

may include but not limited to:

                review inventory record system to verify the receiving and

shipping of all radioactive materials coming to

                or leaving the Washington Hospital Center. Conducts

comprehensive radiation surveys and monitors

                activities for detecting hazardous radioactive conditions,

measuring performance and determining

                compliance. The candidate is expected to perform quarterly

quality assurance tests on instruments

                such as bioassay probes, scintillation counters, dose

calibrators; perform sealed source leak testing,

                maintain nuclear pacemaker inventory and patient record.

                Other duties include radioidine therapy, brachythrapy room

and patient surveys and investigations of

                misadministrations and overexposure.

                The successful candidate should have a minimum of BS degree

in Health Physics or any physical

                sciences discipline with at least three years of experience

in Hospital Health Physics, with skills in

                computer, problem solving, time management and

organization.
