One more time, uh-uh. Great ocean liners somehow manage now to successfully

cross the Atlantic without sailing off the edge of the earth. Howz come?

This was once a perceived fear that was countered with in-for-ma-tion about

reality. For scientists to not try to do so is irresponsible. To accept

irrational fears as "reality" is defeatist. I agree with Bill that we need

to not be condescending in our attitudes, but I don't agree that we have to

accept the current situation as unchangeable. I'm trying to organize science

teacher workshops in my area, and I have offered at my kids' schools to come

in any time and talk about this stuff. I'm not going to go in and represent

people's fears of what could be as the truth, I'm going to talk about what

IS the truth.
