HEALTH PHYSICIST POSITIONS AT BECHTEL NEVADA



Bechtel Nevada, a prime contractor to the U.S. National Nuclear Safety

Administration (NNSA), has an immediate opening for a Scientist to assist in

planning and organizing radiation and health physics programs at various

work locations, with primary work location at the Nevada Test Site, 60 miles

from Las Vegas, Nevada.



Successful candidate will inspect work areas where potential radiological

hazards may exist to ensure proper procedures are being followed; assist in

establishing procedures designed to protect personnel and control

radiological hazards which may be present at the work site; collect,

analyze, and evaluate data from survey forms, log books, and other data

sources using standard calculations and techniques; and compile data and

participate in the preparation of technical information reports detailing

radiological and laboratory results.  



Successful candidate shall possess a BS in Health Physics or related

discipline, plus a minimum of six years experience in Radiological Safety,

either in commercial nuclear power or within the NNSA, or combination of

relevant training and experience.  A certified health physicist is desired

or the candidate should be working toward acquiring health physics

certification.  Knowledge of radiation protection systems, principles,

calculations, methods, and materials.  Knowledge of radiological

engineering, site characterization, detection principles and equipment, and

radiological survey planning and practices desired.  Experience with direct

supervision of field technicians desired.  The candidate must be able to

participate in National Response Asset Deployment activities.
