Pers Req 12-16-02#1 (Senior Radiological Engineer)

Essential Duties

Opening  exists  for a skilled radiation safety professional.  The position

will  support  facility  design  development  by providing expert advice in

ALARA,  radiation  safety, process radiation monitoring, and by calculating

radiation  exposures.   The incumbent will develop pertinent, timely design

inputs  and  actively  interface with designers/engineers.  Compliance with

the Quality Assurance program and project procedures will be required.



Job Related Qualifications

Requires  at  least  10 years (15 years preferable) of either commercial or

DOE  experience pertinent to nuclear facility design, with a Masters degree

in  radiation protection.  A demonstrated ability in practical applications

of  radiation  safety/radiological  engineering is needed.  Candidates must

have a good working knowledge of pertinent portions of Title 10 of the Code

of  Federal  Regulations  and  the  NRC  Regulatory  Guide series, and have

experience  working  in  a  nuclear QA environment.  Experience with Safety

Analysis Report preparation or updating is desirable.  Candidates must have

demonstrated  the  ability  to  work  in  a  team  environment  to  resolve

technical/implementation challenges.

Opening  exists  for a degreed radiation safety professional.  The position

will support facility design development by calculating radiation exposures

and  participating  in developing expert advice in ALARA, radiation safety,

and  process  radiation  monitoring.   The  incumbent  will  interface with

designers/engineers   to  develop  pertinent,  timely  exposure  estimates.

Compliance  with  the Quality Assurance program and project procedures will

be required.



Job Related Qualifications

Requires a Masters degree in radiation protection.  A desire to participate

in  practical  applications of radiation safety/radiological engineering is

needed.   Candidates  should  have  good knowledge of pertinent portions of

Title  10  of  the Code of Federal Regulations and the NRC Regulatory Guide

series.   Candidates must have the ability to work in a team environment to

resolve technical/implementation challenges.
