Dosimetry and Exposure from carry-on X-ray machines

The x-ray machines used for check-in baggage scanning, manufactured to

21CFR1020.40 has a maximum exposure of 0.5 mr/hr at five cm from the

external surface. Operators of these machines do not have to wear

dosimetry per the ANSI for "Installations Using Non-Medical X-ray And

Sealed Gamma-Ray Sources, Engeries Up To 10 MEV." So I would also agree

that passengers would receive very little exposure from these baggage

scanners. Does anyone know if airport carry-on baggage scanner

operators are actually wearing dosimetry?
