Dosimetry Positions
Below is a posting for a dosimetry technician, but there are two other
positions available also, Dosimetry Manager and a Dosimetry Health
Physicist, Sara (listed below) can provide information on all three
positions.
DOSIMETRY TECHNICIAN
The West Valley Nuclear Services Company (WVNSCO), an environmental
management project tackling the complex challenge of cleaning up and
packaging radioactive waste, is seeking a Dosimetry Technician. WVNSCO
is located 35 miles south of Buffalo, New York close to both excellent
ski resorts and boating and fishing on Lakes Erie and Ontario.
Duties
Maintenance of Whole Body Counter; knowledge of Thermoluminescence
Dosimeter (TLD) Reader and Irradiator; validation of in-vivo and
in-vitro data; organize and direct routine and nonroutine dosimeter
exchange; evaluate, prepare, and process nonroutine dosimeters; direct
routine TLD processing and generation of dose reports; prepare dosimetry
records for electronic transfer; verify and validate personnel dosimetry
records before generation of electronic data files; database management
(maintain dosimetry database in good working condition by
troubleshooting nonroutine errors and problems that may occur);
acceptance of new equipment (visual, physical, and dimensional
verification of dosimeters, badge trays, and badge cases to maintain the
integrity of the external dosimetry program hardware); and maintain
technical knowledge.
Education and Experience
Associates of science degree in a science or math discipline or
equivalent; a working knowledge of computers and PC software; and a
minimum of 3 years of demonstrated dosimetry experience.
NOTE:
U.S. citizenship is required for employment at the West Valley Nuclear
Services Company.
