Duties: To assist in everyday health physics duties in the hospital
center where byproduct materials and radiation producing equipment are
used. This
may include but not limited to: review inventory record system to verify
the receiving and shipping of all radioactive materials coming to or
leaving the Washington Hospital Center. Conducts comprehensive radiation
surveys and monitors activities for detecting hazardous radioactive
conditions, measuring performance and determining compliance. The candidate
is expected to perform quarterly quality assurance tests on instruments
such as bioassay probes, scintillation counters, dose calibrators; perform
sealed source leak testing, maintain nuclear pacemaker inventory and
patient record.
Other duties include radioidine therapy, brachythrapy room and patient
surveys and investigations of misadministrations and overexposure.
The successful candidate should have a minimum of BS degree in Health
Physics or any physical sciences discipline with at least three years of
experience
in Hospital Health Physics, with skills in computer, problem solving, time
management and organization.
