RE: Recommendations for badge handling

DOE STD 1098-99 (Radiological Control) says:

8. DOE discourages the practice of taking thermoluminescent dosimeters

(TLDs) off-site.

This is not an easy issue, especially when workers are used to taking

their dosimetry home, and there are sites that allow it. Problems

include: lost dosimeters, issuance of temporary dosimetry when the

official badge is left at home, and increased uncertainty with regard to

non-occupational dose from background etc.

Subject: Recommendations for badge handling

Can anyone help me with recommendations or regulations pertinent to

proper handling of dose monitors?

Specifically, I am looking for something that says badges must/should

be left at the facility and not taken home or elsewhere.

Thanks in advance for any help.
