person-rem cost benefit analysis....???
I'm awaiting a copy of NUREG/BR-0184....'Regulatory Analysis Technical
Evaluation Handbook'.....
In the mean time I was wondering if anyone has an electronic copy
available to share...?
I also, have a question.....
In performing a cost benefit analysis in an ALARA review, I've
seen/heard discussed many $$ values per person-rem, from NRC recommended
$2000 per rem .... to $50,000 per rem in practice. ICRP-55,
'Optimization and Decision-Making in Radiation Protection', goes into
this cost benefit analysis in depth. I'm not sure I even fully
comprehend the methods used there yet, ...anyway, this report in fact
suggests the use of a sliding scale for performing cost benefit
analysis. The exposed population is broken down into dose ranges
groups and different parameters (ie....$$/rem) are used for the different
dose groups. This makes great sense to me, however I have not seen
any reference to this is in the regulatory implementation
guidance...... Any thoughts or comments?
Regards,
