RE: Niagara Falls Electromet

Title: Message
L. H. Ricciuti --

Unfortunately, I can't help you any further. I really can't imagine why any knowledgeable person at DOE would tell you that Electromet was the biggest ore-to-metal uranium producer and further, that Electromet processed ore. Please note that as regards technical matters, the most knowledgeable folks are usually not found in DOE itself but among their contractors whom they have hired to do particular specialty kinds of work.

You can call up ORAU yourself -- they are based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Please be aware that while they may be able to answer short questions, they are not a public information service. Note that ORAU is a DOE contractor, but not DOE itself.

I can't provide you with what I know about Harshaw -- I am up to about 70 references and counting, so I have a huge volume of information I have sifted through already.

I wish you good luck in your research, but please do find and examine the sources I quoted from. I believe that they are correct.

Unfortunately, I do not accept this as authoratative. I don't mind the checking, however, I have this information from DOE and another AEC document.
I have not seen what you are perporting in writing and have a correction letter addressed to me from the DOE verifying my position. (I suppose this is a standoff.)
Someone should get the facts straight.

While I am completely aware of the volume of materials produced at Malinkrodt, I feel that the information given to you is incorrect. Please have any of the annotated people from ORU or DOE contact me.

Thanks a bunch, and yes, I would like to know what you know about Harshaw Chemical in the Western New York area.
Any help with some facts?

Also, since you have this connection to DOE personnel, would you mind providing the board and me with the stats for production for E-Met?
