Concern about uranium munitions and "hot particles" 



"Hot particles" as produced by impact or explosion of uranium powder do not

exist in Nature. "Hot particles" have been seen after nuclear explosions and

as Chernobyl fallout.  The Pentagon appears to make a new bio-hazardous

entity from ceramic uranium oxide.  



Uranium dust and smoke can become a form of radioactive fallout.  



A marker was laid in August 1945 when some 15 kg of 239Plutonium was

detonated at Nagasaki. 1.2 kg fissioned but about 13 kg vaporized as

fallout.  It remained airborne for 2.5 years and became uniformly

disseminated in the Northern Hemisphere. 



Everyone alive at the time likely became labelled with Nagasaki 239Pu atoms.

It was found ubiquitously in artic and Greenland ice, glaciers, and areas of

habitation. 



The USA has now disseminated some 1000 tons of DU in Afghanistan 2002 plus

2000 tons in Iraq 2003. A brief calculation shows:





The Nagasaki bomb contained:  15kg 239Pu.  

Of this, 1.2 kg fissioned and some 13 kg vaporized (92%) FALLOUT became a

weapon.

Pentagon Uranium Munitions activity 2002-2003 

British observer Dai Williams noted the March 2003 Pentagon war plan and

estimated from American data that the Pentagon dispersed 1000 tones of

uranium munitions in Afghanistan and planned 2000 tons in Iraq 2003.  There

are ballistic aspects.



Total assessed uranium dispersed = 3000 tons 



    ( 3000 x 2240 ) / 2.2 = 3,054,545 kg 



URANIUM dispersed = 3,054,545 kg 

Or 234,965 times the actinide quantity dispersed by the Nagasaki bomb.  



Some scientists say that submicroscopic uranium particles can remain

airborne for 2.5 years - like Nagasaki plutonium.  

What percentage of Uranium might be disseminated airborne for 2.5 years.  

Conversion rates from 40% to 70% have been quoted.  



If only 30% Uranium was converted to 238U smoke - what would the quantity

be? 



78,321 times more uranium fallout than the plutonium quantity dispersed by

the Nagasaki Bomb. 



Some will say so what - there is 3 tons of uranium in a cubic km of

seawater.  



Molecular uranium at 3 parts per billion is a different prospect from

Pentagon packaged concentrated alpha ionizing "hot particle" strikes.  



"Hot particles" are much more damaging biologically than molecular (soluble)

uranium. 



I believe everyone should be most concerned about this development and must

ask questions about the risk threatened. I believe risk is not limited to

Central Asia and the Middle East. 



They are using an out of date paradigm in Washington.  New European studies

show 62 million fatal cancers due to radiation since 1945 where the ICRP

predicts only 1.2 million.  



Your health, your children and grandchildren are at risk of this half blind
