Would anyone in Radsafe have some details on the shielding material Boral, that they could please send me ?
From my Handbook of Composite Materials, I have been able to find that its almost certainly a metal matrix composite, with aluminum as the matrix material, with some form of boron (particles or fibers) embedded in it. According to the brief description, its supposedly a desirable type of shielding due to its high strength and low thermal expansion coefficient. But it doesn't even mention the name Boral -- presumably a commercial trade mark ?
