Actually, rickets (vitamin D deficiency) has seen a bit of an

upsurge -- especially among poor minorities -- due to both

decreased sun exposure and a diet that does not consist

of items enriched with vit. D.

Reminds me of nearly every documentary I saw about the

USSR in grade school -- there was always a segment showing

school kids gathered around a UV lamp...
