Here is a question that continues to trouble me (and please don't imply anything political):  what is "global mean temperature" and how is it measured?  Is it the average, at any time, of all the temperature sensors on all the weather stations in the world?



Also, are the composition and temperature profile of the stratosphere uniform?  They certainly aren't for the troposphere.
