In addition, many folks are not even aware that Japan also had an atomic bomb
program,
but they did. It was begun in the late '30s and continued to end of the war.
There was
cooperation with Germany and material help was being provided by Germany.
Interesting side note -- one of the program plants was located on the Chosin
Reservoir in
then occupied North Korea - the very same site where in the winter of 1950,
the US X Corps
suffered horrendous defeat and casualties at hands of the Chinese - especially
1st Marine Div
and 31st Inf Regimental Combat Team.
