1) HEALTH PHYSICIST 2, RADIOLOGICAL SAFETY, ASSESSMENTS, & TRAINING

(RSAT), ENVIRONMENTAL SURVEY & SITE ASSESSMENT PROGRAM (ESSAP), EXEMPT,

EEO-1 Category - Professional (Grade 10)



FULL-TIME TEMPORARY POSITION - UP TO 1 YEAR



PURPOSE: To plan and lead small to medium size radiological surveys and

technical projects.  Provide technical support to DOE and other federal

agencies in various aspects of radiological protection and related

health physics projects.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE: 



*	Leading a team of 1 to 2 survey technicians in conducting

surveys at sites throughout the U.S. that involve a small to medium

scope-of-work, in accordance with established plans and program

procedures.  Identifying on-site problems and modify procedures with

Project Manager concurrence depending on site-specific situations and

conditions.

*	Performing technical review of documents prepared by other

organizations concerning characterization and remedial action

activities.  Reviewing with and collaborating with Project manager to

identify deficiencies and technical comments.

*	Participating in and providing input to survey strategy

planning.  Reviewing site histories and making preliminary site visits;

preparing survey plans; preparing preliminary cost estimates and

schedules for Project Manager review and approval.

*	Evaluating and reviewing data collected by survey team and

provided by the laboratory to determine site contamination conditions.

Preparing technical survey reports for small sites that describe survey

procedure, results, and conclusions and comparing conditions with

applicable regulatory criteria.  Providing discussion of conclusions

reached with Project Manager prior to submittal of report to the

applicable agency.

*	Operating monitoring and sampling equipment.  Assuring that

instrumentation is maintained and calibrated in accordance with program

procedure.  Evaluating/recommending new equipment as assigned.



REQUIREMENTS:  Master's degree in a radiological science field plus

two-four years of related experience and training in health physics or

an equivalent combination of education and related experience.  Must

have background in radiation protection fundamentals; knowledge of

environmental monitoring techniques and basic radiation protection; good

leadership ability and supervisory skills and technical or scientific

writing ability. 





2) HEALTH PHYSICIST 3 TEAM LEADER, RADIOLOGICAL SAFETY, ASSESSMENTS, &

TRAINING (RSAT), ENVIRONMENTAL SURVEY & SITE ASSESSMENT PROGRAM (ESSAP),

EXEMPT, EEO-1 Category - Professional (Grade 11)



FULL-TIME TEMPORARY POSITION - UP TO 1 YEAR



PURPOSE: To plan and lead environmental and radiological surveys,

evaluate data and prepare reports; review/evaluate reports of other

organizations; and provide technical support to DOE and other federal

agencies in various aspects of environmental and radiological

protection. 



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE: 



*	Leading a team of survey technicians in conducting surveys at

sites throughout the U.S. in accordance with established plans and

program procedures to include resolving on-site problems and modifying

procedures as necessary. 



*	Planning survey strategies; reviewing site histories and make

preliminary site visits; preparing survey plans; procuring supplies and

services; and determining schedules. 



*	Evaluating data collected by survey team and provided by the

laboratory to determine site contamination conditions; preparing

technical survey reports describing survey procedure, results and

conclusions and comparing conditions with applicable regulatory

criteria; and recommending corrective measures.



*	Operating monitoring and sampling equipment; assuring that

instrumentation is maintained and calibrated in accordance with program

procedure; and evaluating/recommending new equipment. 



*	Performing technical reviews of documents and procedures

prepared by other organizations. 



*	Acting as spokesperson regarding sensitive environmental

contamination matters when dealing with site personnel, contractors and

the public.



REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in a radiological science field or other

related scientific field plus four to six years of related experience

and training in health physics or an equivalent combination of education

and related experience. Must have extensive background in radiation

protection and environmental monitoring techniques; demonstrated

leadership ability and supervisory skills; and technical or scientific

writing ability.
