A query for radsafe on health risk of metal detector friskers andportals

Hi all,



I have just had a query from an officer in our corrective services ie

prisons system: personnel have to pass thru metal detector portals and / or

undergo metal detector frisking several times per day, to maintain system

security.



Are these devices simply passive detectors of magnetic field variation, or

do they emit emf??  If so, is there likely to be any health risk for foetus

of potentially pregnant female employees??
