Re: An HP Position is Open in Texas

Everyone is right on target with their comments regarding state

employment. It offers excellent opportunities in many areas of

radiation protection. My first job was with the State of FL

radiological health program, oh so many years ago. The pay seemed

great, considering that I got the job right out of graduate school.

It took only 4 years to realize that one could not make a decent

living continuing to work there. That led to an opportunity at

Florida Power and Light, and then, thanks to "right sizing", my

current position at Global Dosimetry (via ICN).

If you can afford it, and, you're young, and are looking for valuable

experience, state work is fine. If you're already in the industry,

moving to a state job could be detrimental to your wallet.

Choices. One must always make choices.
