RE: Subject: USDOE/DOL/NIOSH Dose Reconstruction Program
Perhaps we should examine this a little more closely. Is a million dollars enough? Is any amount of money enough? Think of it this way: If I offered you a million dollars today and in return you had to be "given cancer" and die a painful death at some time in the possibly very near future....would you take the money? I mean, really, if the tables were altered, how much money would it take for any of us to volunteer to contract cancer?
Just a thought.

Jerry, you are not wrong. Nothing good will come of it. This is a cash
transfer program pure and simple. I'm all for giving money to sick people,
but the selection process for determining who gets paid and who doesn't has
no basis in reality. Why don't we just say everyone with cancer gets a
million dollars and be done with it? I see no justification for
discriminating against those victims who didn't happen to work in the
defense industry.
