           At least for radon, lliquid scintillation is an excellent way.

Add scintillant such as toluene or xylene and shake well, which transfers

the radon from the water into the scintillant. Put scintillant into a liquid

scintillation counter. .







            I forgot to mention, that the LSC measurement for radon, using

extraction into a water immiscible liquid scintillation cocktail is a really

classic example for a radionuclide specific method and therefore supporting

my critizism for gross measurement methods.
