RE: IAEA Article: The Promise of Underground Geological Repositories



In my opinion, the public's acceptance of the repository concept in

other countries is engendered by it being a permanent monitored

operation there.  This is not the case with the used nuclear fuel

repository proposed beneath Yucca Mountain in the US where the

post-closure phase has a finite lifetime.  Perhaps the idea that

"scientists in white lab coats" will always be scurrying around should

be an emerging value for Yucca proponents to pursue to advance public

acceptance.
