Job Description:

The incumbent is responsible for conducting analyses and threat assessments

of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (CBRN) and explosive

originating from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) anti-terrorism

and countermeasure programs. Serves as technical authority in the

specialized areas of CBRN and addresses issues that are of major concern in

accomplishing CBP's homeland security mission. Provides technical advise in

the CBP chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (CBRN) Data Assessment &

Teleforensics Center that provides around-the-clock technical assistance to

field officers to evaluate/triage detection alarms. Serves as a technical

liaison to other Government, state, and local agencies in the area of CBRN

detection and crisis response. Coordinates with other Government agencies to

assist in the identification of more difficult inquires. Discusses the

results of evaluation with senior analysts and facilitates crisis response

in the event of the interdiction of suspect or illicit materials. Operates

and maintains several scientific instruments used to scan conveyances and

cargo for the presence of radioactive/nuclear materials, chemical/biological

agents, explosives. Analyzes sample and evidence at various Customs field

location such as cargo, mail, and passenger environments. Participates in

mobile operation as an analyst and crew member of the mobile laboratory.

Serves as a technical expert on a Weapons of Mass Destruction emergency

response team. Develops, revises, and writes technical portions of CBP

guidelines or procedures that may affect other agencies and/or industries.

Writes reports and papers which may be of controversy subjects.
