This doesn't contribute to the technical aspects of the discussion, but the

world has

certainly changed in the past few decades.  Some of us (including me) are

old enough to

remember using a fluoroscope in a shoe store to see how the shoes fit.  It

was great fun

wiggling your toes to see the bones move.
