As an alternative case, I would point out that the Intergovernmental Panel
on Climate Change included John Christy - arguably the most important global
warming skeptic among working climate scientists - among the lead authors of
its most recent report[1]. He cowrote the chapter summarizing what we know
about the current rate of warming, and his data is in included in the IPCC's
report. (Christy is the PI of the group whose satellite data shows less
warming than ground-based thermometers, a key bit of data cited by
greenhouse warming skeptics. Christy's data figured prominently in the OISM
"review paper.").
