Description:
Providing radiation safety services to federal and commercial clients.
Immediate opening exists for providing health physics services to a large
federal research facility which operates under an NRC medical broad scope
license for the use of radioactive materials in scientific research and
medical treatment and diagnosis. The license covers over 40 buildings (most
on a college-like campus) that contain approximately 3,000 radioactive
material laboratories involving over 10,000 research and clinical personnel.
Skills & Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills
relevant to:
*Conducting health physics surveys of radioactive material use areas,
*Environmental sample deployment, collection, and preparation for lab
analysis,
*Radioactive sample preparation,
*Portable contamination meter calibrations,
*Iodination facility operation and management,
*Decontamination of radiological areas,
*Radioactive material security inspections,
*Oral and written communication,
*Waste management and disposal practices,
*U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations, and
*Training radiation workers.
Required Education:
Registered by the NRRPT or have completed a 4-year (BS) college degree in
health physics or related science program.
Additional Requirements:
Qualified candidates must have more than 1 year full-time experience
conducting radiation safety surveys, monitoring and decontaminating
personnel and equipment, sample deployment and collection, sample
preparation and analyses, and more than 1 month full-time experience
calibrating radiation detection instruments.
Salary Range:
Starting salary $50,440 to $54,080.
