Hi all:
Related to Sandy Perle's news posting about the recent terrible
earthquake/tsunami in a brief AP news story titled:
"Tsunami toll is huge, but not the deadliest event on record" there is a
list of earthquakes since 1900 compiled by the USGS which I just reviewed:
From:
http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/eqlists/eqsmajr.html
USGS list of earthquakes worldwide since 1900 with death tolls of 1,000 or
more:
1976 Jul 27 China, Tangshan
39.6 N 118.0 E 255,000
(official) 7.5 Estimated death toll as high as 655,000.
