Radiation Safety only regulates ionizing radiation. The Physical Plant (and I a
ssume the FCC) regulate campus portable radios. The Journalism Dept. is respons
ible for the FM station and the local cable channel. Lasers are the responsibil
ity of the Occupational Safety committee. Strong magnetic field generating devi
ces (NMR's, etc.) are also governed by the Occupational regulations. VDT displa
ys are checked by occupational staff members, not radiation safety. In addition
, not all Ionizing forms are the responsibility of Radiation Safety. Because of
 the State laws, the X-ray machines at the Student Health center are checked by
 the State.
