RE: surveying ash

Hello,

I've read a number of questions posted here about the disposal of
incinerator ash, carcasses, & microspheres. Most recently I saw
Melissa Woo post:

A researcher at the University of Washington, Dr. Thomas A. Standaert (an
animal physiologist) did a number of studies testing the stability of radio-
active microspheres. These studies put a number of these "beads" through
temperatures up to 800 degrees C (higher than typical incinerators). These
results were very encouraging for the reduction of waste volume.

I spoke to Dr. Standaert, today (8/23/94). He offered to share information
from his studies with interested parties.
He would be interested in an appropriate forum to publish this information.

In the meantime his studies may be of value to some of the readers of RADSAFE.

Dr. Standaert can be reached by E-Mail at: tasphd@u.washington.edu

He would welcome any inquiries.

I hope this may be of some value.
