Yucca Mountain becomes yucca flats?

The Congressional Record for Tuesday March 7, 1995 contains
summaries of the Bowman - Venneri allegations that the Yucca
Mountain repository might blow up, unintentionally, under
certain conditions, and also the Los Alamos review team rebuttal
of the points raised by Dr. Charles Bowman & Dr. Francesco Venneri.
These summaries, as well as some intelligent senatorial
commentary, were introduced by Senator J. Bennett Johnston (D-LA),
and I believe they appear on pages S3637 ff.
(I downloaded an electronic version & can't swear to the page numbers.)

Also, the Congressional Record for Monday March 6, 1995 contains
statements by Sen. Richard Bryan (D-NV) and Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV);
Sen. Bryan's statement contains the text of the NY Times article.
The Nevada Senators, whose comments appear on pages S3489 ff,
seem disturbed by Dr. Bowman's speculations.

Both documents are rather long for posting directly to radsafe,
about 30K, but I can certainly email copies to anyone interested.
