Consider the digest option, for then one gets only one message per day 
per mailing list.  You can always reset mail to send messages 
immediately if you need an immediate response, or stress in your posting 
that you are on digest and ask for direct responses.  

I wouldn't stay on this list or SAFETY were it not for DIGEST, for it 
would be too hard to find the local messages I _need_ to answer among 
the many more I like to read.
